ASAFOTUFIAM FESTIVAL

The Asafotufiam festival is proudly celebrated by the people of Ada during the first week in August. The name Asafotufiam was derived from the word, Asafotufiami, which means ‘Divisional Firing of Musketry’. This yearly event honors the memories of warriors who sacrificed their lives to secure a land for the people. During the celebration, Ada’s paramount chief along with other clan heads gather for processions and speeches.  There are other activities like; the musketry firing, drumming, singing of war songs and rituals that are performed by the elders at home.
